Neil R. Miller is Professor of Ophthalmology, Neurology & Neurosurgery. He is also the Frank B. Walsh Professor of Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and orbital disease.
Dr. Miller received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, where he also served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. He is board certified in ophthalmology and has been a member of the Wilmer faculty since 1976.
Dr. Miller has an expertise in neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmology, orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease and Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) and his research interests include orbital tumors and optic nerve disease. He has authored or co-authored over 420 articles, 80 chapters, and 12 books, one of which is Walsh and Hoyt’s Clinical Neuro-Ophthalmology, a major textbook in the field. He is past President of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and three-time President of the International Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.
