summary/abstract:La enfermedad de Graves causa problemas de tiroides, la cual controla el metabolismo. En ocasiones, puede también causar problemas oculares. Esto se llama enfermedad ocular tiroidea u oftalmopatía de Graves. Los tejidos y los músculos que rodean el ojo se hinchan. Esto puede empujar el ojo hacia adelante y hacer que sobresalga. Esto puede ocurrir antes, después o al mismo tiempo que otras señales de hipertiroidismo.
¿Cómo puede cuidarse en el hogar?
• Sea prudente con los medicamentos. Tome sus medicamentos exactamente como se los recetaron. Llame a su médico si piensa que está teniendo un problema con su medicamento.
• Si tiene los ojos secos, puede usar lágrimas artificiales. Puede comprarlas sin receta médica.
• Si tiene los ojos sensibles a la luz, el frío o el viento, puede probar a usar gafas oscuras. Esto puede ayudar a protegerle los ojos.
