Dr. John Nguyen graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with BS degree in biology. He completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. His internship and ophthalmology residency training were also completed at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and he served as co-Chief Resident. Dr. Nguyen completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstruction surgery at Harvard Medical School, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is a board certified ophthalmologist and a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).
Dr. Nguyen began his career at the WVU (West Virginia University) Eye Institute in the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2009 and specializes in functional and cosmetic evaluation and treatment of the eyelids, eyebrows, orbit, tear ducts, and mid-face. He serves as Associate Professor in the department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and also the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery. He is also the Director for the Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery fellowship. Dr. Nguyen has published extensively in peer reviewed medical journals as well as written many book chapters. He lectures nationally and internationally on many topics related to oculofacial surgery.
