Vivek R. Patel, MD, received his undergraduate and medical degrees, with distinction, from the University of Saskatchewan. He completed his internship and residency training in Ophthalmology at McGill University, where he served as chief resident before completing fellowship training in Neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Southern California. Board-certified in the U.S and Canada, Vivek R. Patel, is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Neuro-ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus service at the USC Roski Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine.

He served the Residency Program Director (2014-2019) and is currently the Neuro-ophthalmology fellowship director. He actively serves as a board examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a board member and Associate Editor of the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology. He is the Neuro-Ophthalmology Section Chief for the American Academy of Ophthalmology ONE Network Ophthalmic education platform.
