Lewis E. Braverman was Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. His research interests included iodine effects on the thyroid, thyroid disruptors and effects of amiodarone on thyroid function with special interest in thyroid disorders and general endocrinology.

Dr. Braverman had an expertise in physiology and pathophysiology of the thyroid including effects of environmental pollutants and iodine on thyroid function. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine followed by residency from Beth Israel Hospital and Boston City Hospital and fellowship in endocrinology from Boston City Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Braverman was board certified in nuclear medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
