Jonathan Dutton is a Professor Emeritus of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstrucitve Surgery and Ophthalmic Oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. He formerly specialized in orbital diseases, intraocular oncology, and reconstructive eyelid and lacrimal surgery.
He has pioneered research in orbital reconstruction and treatment of spastic eyelid disease. His practice covers the full scope of problems related to the eyelids and orbits, including blepharospasm, eyelid malpositions, tearing disorders, thyroid eye disease, eyelid and orbital trauma, and periocular malignancies. He has a particular interest in intraocular malignancies, with internationally recognized expertise in treatment of choroidal malignant melanoma. He served as a principle investigator for the national collaborative melanoma treatment trial and perform episcleral radioactive plaque therapy for treatment of intraocular melanoma.
