Nicholas Robert Mahoney is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at John Hopkins Medicine. He has expertise in areas like ocular plastics, ophthalmology, orbital trauma, orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease. Dr. Mahoney received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He then completed additional specialty training as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He specializes in surgery of the tissue surrounding the eyes, including the eyelids, eye socket, and tear drainage system. This includes the removal of benign and malignant lesions of the eyelid and eye socket, repair of the eyelid and eye socket trauma, reconstruction of the tear ducts, and both functionally reconstructive and cosmetic surgery on the eyelids and face.
