Thyroid eye disease (also called Graves’ ophthalmopathy) may have many effects on your quality of life. Symptoms, changes to your appearance, mental health changes, and reduced self-esteem may then put a strain on your relationships.
“Thyroid eye disease can lead to worsening self-confidence because primarily it can impact your appearance,” says Yuna Rapoport, MD, MPH, Ophthalmologist at Manhattan Eye. “It can give an appearance of an angry look — even when someone is not angry.”
