Paciente con trastorno autoinmunitario de la glándula tiroides presenta inusual infarto al miocardio
Una paciente puertorriqueña con apenas dos semanas de postparto y diagnosticada con un trastorno autoinmunitario de la glándula tiroides presentó un inusual cuadro clínico cardíaco sin tan siquiera un historial cardiovascular que lo sustentara.
La mujer de 37 años arribó a la sala de emergencias del Manatí Medical Center (MMC), dos semanas después de dar a luz con síntomas de dolor de pecho asociado a sudoración, náuseas, mareos, falta de aire y con un historial médico de la enfermedad de Graves que es la causa más común de hipertiroidismo desarrollado durante el embarazo el cual no respondió adecuadamente a medicamentos, sostuvo la Dra. Yesenia Fuentes a Medicina y Salud Pública (MSP).
La enfermedad de Graves es un trastorno autoinmunitario que lleva a la hiperactividad de la glándula tiroides, que ocurre cuando el sistema de defensas ataca por error el tejido sano.
