Dr. Shannon S. Joseph is a board-certified and subspecialty fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery exclusively of the eyes and face. Dr. Joseph is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Joseph received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa National Academic Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. After completing her ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Joseph then underwent sub-specialty fellowship training in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Michigan.

After serving as an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Wilmer Eye Institute, Dr. Joseph returned to the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center and was promoted to Associate Professor. While on faculty at the University of Michigan, Dr. Joseph served as the Medical Director of the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center Ambulatory Surgery Center and the Medical Director of the Division of Oculofacial Plastic Surgery. She also founded and co-directed the Michigan Medicine Multidisciplinary Facial Nerve Clinic at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Joseph’s surgical expertise include upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid lift), lower blepharoplasty (lower eyelid lift), Asian eyelid surgery (Asian blepharoplasty), eyebrow and forehead lift (including minimally invasive endoscopic techniques), autologous fat transfer (fat grafting), eyelid reconstruction, Mohs/skin cancer reconstruction, orbital surgery, and tear duct surgery (including minimally invasive endoscopic techniques). Dr. Joseph also specializes in non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments including neurotoxin and facial fillers. Dr. Joseph is fluent in English and Mandarin.
